Highland Capital Management Supports the George W. Bush Presidential Center

Immediately, it became known that the series would be one worth the time, as the first presentation of it featured the son of Antonin Scalia, the late Justice of the United States Supreme Court who passed away in 2016. The son, Christopher J. Scalia, who is the co-editor of Scalia Speaks: Reflections on Law, Faith, and Life Well Lived, gave a very popular presentation at the Highland-sponsored series in the month of February. Also, as another feature of the program, experts in the fields of media and history held a panel discussion on the fourth President of the United States, James Madison.

Highland Capital Management, based out of Dallas Texas, made it known in January of 2018 that they would make a donation of $10,000,000 to the George W. Bush Presidential Center. This was announced by both the co-founder of the business, James Dondero, and the CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Library, Kenneth Hersh. The intent of Highland Capital’s gift was to support a new series sponsored by the firm, “Engage at the Bush Center, presented by Highland Capital Management.” Read this article at Dallas News.

As the panel discussed Madison, who was a champion of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, they talked about what the man’s views about the current landscape of today’s media might have been. There have been many other notable faces to speak at the series, including Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, General Michael Hayden, and the former director of the NSA and CIA, Christopher Jackson.

In terms of the contribution to the Presidential Center made by Highland, this was not at all the first time the business has made a contribution to them. In fact, the firm has donated $5,000,000 to the Center since 2012.
