Smartphone Sales Figures Reveal No Surprises

The current landscape of smartphones looks promising for some manufacturers. For others, the landscape can be best described as dire. Smartphones are like any other product. Certain releases and brands will be hits while others find being called misses to be charitable. Samsung has done quite well in the current market. Sales of Samsung smartphones remain strong even though some believed the company would not do so well. The sale of Galaxy S7 models at a discount definitely aided Samsung’s sales.

Apple experienced a surprising dip. Overall, Apple’s stock has done quite well this year. Then again, the strength of the stock market overall has been strong. Apple is a diversified company so a dip in smartphone sales probably wouldn’t be enough to cause major stock headaches. If the company can survive the Apple Watch fiasco, it can handle a drop in smartphone sales.

Windows Phones remain steady in a consistent direction. Unfortunately, that direction is down. Consumers flat out are not interested in buying Windows Phones. How long are these phones going to last in the market until the plug is pulled?

If nothing else, the current sales figures show customers like to be consistent. Top sellers continue to be top sellers. Poor performers find moving up the ladder to be difficult.

Customers really need a great reason to switch brands when they are already happy with a particular manufacturer and product. Samsung reaps the rewards of these consumer sentiments while the Windows Phone suffers.

Can things change sales-wise in the future? Of course, things can potentially change. The likelihood of actual change, however, remains doubtful. Consumers just like to remain true to their current purchasing habits.
