The company was able to achieve this milestone after partnering with Harris Corporation in July 2016 by developing a Cell Defender technology. They went ahead and launched the Wireless Containment Solution, a program which prevents any contraband mobile phone from accessing mobile networks within the correctional facility.

Keeping Criminals in Jail Using Securus Technologies

I work on a fugitive task force in my state, and this year we were given a case that involved a thug who had a habit of getting violent with innocent victims around our community. Whether he was robbing your car or your wallet, if you resisted, he would make sure you suffered in pain. The only reason this suspect was on the street was because of a technicality, and I was determined to put him back in jail before he hurt someone else.

The biggest trouble we have with violent offenders like this is that they can snap at the slightest thing. Look at the suspect the wrong way in a supermarket, then he might pull a knife on you right there in the produce aisle. To complicate matters, this suspect had a huge network of family and friends that were all too happy to keep him hidden. The only thing going for me was the fact his brother and partner in crime was still in jail, so I decided to see if he would sing.

Normally an inmate like this would never talk, but I wanted to send a message here. By asking him questions, I knew h would run to the phones and call his brother at his first chance. Lucky for us, Securus Technologies just updated the prison inmate call monitoring system, and I was about to strike gold.

The LBS software alerted my team that the two were talking and speaking about making a big score so they both could get out of the country. That score involved holding up an armored truck, despite the guards armed to the teeth. When we were able to collect the details and position ourselves to follow that suspect, we took him down and back to jail to reunite him with his brother for a long time.

Stevie Awards finals see newcomers, including Securus Technologies

Securus Technologies has made it to the final three positions in the contest for the Stevie Awards Gold Trophy. This remarkable feat has seen them move ahead of thousands of competitors in their bid for the title of reigning U.S. Customer Service Champion. Regardless of whether or not Securus takes the gold, reaching the final three ensures that they will, at a minimum, receive the Bronze Award. This marks a rite of passage for a company which has struggled against dogged critics and false accusations, taking on all comers headlong and slaying them utterly in the fight to rise to the top. Today, Securus Technologies is the undisputed king of the prison telecommunications industry and a major driver of innovation not just in the prison sector, but throughout the country as a whole.

Domination through innovation

Securus has over 600 patents and has spent billions of dollars on researching and developing new technologies that will make prisons safer and more efficient. This is an example of the best aspects of capitalism, where self-interest leads directly to the pursuit of paradigm-shifting innovations which transform the lives for the better of everyone they touch. This describes Securus’ journey without fault.

Over the last 10 years, Securus has rolled out so many new products that they couldn’t possibly all be listed. Securus has brought to market everything from the mundane, like prepaid collect calling accounts, to the exotic, like the DoD-inspired STINGRAY weapons system, to the transformative, such as Securus’ game-changing video visitation software. This tireless font of creative energy harnessed for the public good is one of the defining characteristics of Securus.

Such enviable results come from a corporate philosophy of putting the customer first, listening carefully and attracting the absolute best talent the tech sector has to offer. The Stevie Awards serve as a validation of this philosophy, one that will allow Securus to proceed into the future even more confident in its ability to juggle the ethical, moral and financial considerations required to run a world class prison communications firm.

Securus Giving Families More Options For Communication

It is insane to listen to the detractors of the latest Securus Technologies innovation. Securus is this telecommunications company that provides telecommunications services to prisons and jails around the country. That means they operate those telephones hanging on the walls of the prison, as well as other telecommunication services such as the new video visitation.

Somehow, opponents of the new video visitation technology say that families are being forced to use it. That is simply not true. Families are never forced to use a telecommunications service that they do not want to use. They are simply choosing to use this new technology in order to communicate with their inmate on the inside of the prison. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why.

Visiting a prison can be an uncomfortable and intimidating process. Prisons are not known for being the most beautiful buildings in the world. These dreary, drab and uncomfortable places can put even the most intrepid visitor at unease. Visiting a prison also requires a security check. These security checks can be fairly invasive and could make anybody feel uncomfortable. And on top of all of this, you are likely to wait a long time before visiting with your inmate.

Video visitation technology is instant. Securus makes using the technology as simple as possible. A friend or family member of an inmate can set up an account at the website of Securus. Once an account has been set up. The user can simply request a time for a video chat. The user then gets instant notification when the chat is approved. Then the user logs back into the website at the appropriate time to initiate the video visit. There are no long drives, embarrassing security checks or long waits injury buildings. Video visitation sounds like an alluring alternative.
