Anticipating User Actions Before the Process Even Begins

The world’s most visited website is due for some big changes in the near future. Google had quite humble beginnings. The company started out as a search engine which seemed to be little more than logo and text entry field. The results were impressive right from the start though. Since those early days Google has grown in quite a few different ways. The most noticeable is the scope of their product line. The company is perhaps still best known as a search engine. However, since their initial launch they’ve managed to create multiple successful operating systems and a whole suite of applications. The scope of Google’s interests has grown. But the sparseness of the main Google search page has been a constant for quite some time. Additional features pop up every now and then. Still, most users have found that the search engine’s whitespace is fairly predictable.

All of this is about to change soon. Google recently announced that they have plans to integrate some new features into their search engine’s presentation. The new features are going to be a big change to the search engine’s functionality. But the change might not come as a huge shock to people who love Google’s services. The new features are going to borrow heavily from functionality that’s long been a staple of Google’s other platforms. In particular much of the new system is going to be quite similar to Google Now functionality that’s long been part of Google’s Android devices. There was even a brief period where Google Now feeds were present as an optional feature on Google’s desktop web browser, Chrome.

Google’s known for quite a while that they wanted to offer the Google Now functionality to everyone, no matter what platform they were on. It’s only recently that they’ve decided that the best way to do so is through the page which brought them so much attention in the first place.
